Country Girl

Did a new workout today that combine my love of dance and my NEW love of country music.

I was sceptical when I first got this program that I A. wouldn't break a sweat and B. enjoy the music (not really a country fan)

Well I was proven wrong!  I was dripping with sweat, my legs were jello and my booty was burning lol

The constant dancing with the combo of the moves made me work muscles I didn't know I was working and the music is the hottest country music out so I was singing away.  I felt like I was at a country bar 😄
Well all I can say is I am excited to do day 2!!

I am going to host a Country Girl Challenge group Aug. 15th so let me know if you like to
dance
country music
getting in shape
or all of the above
send me an email if you want me to save you a spot 😄

Ups and Downs

2 years ago I joined a company to change lives.  Little did I know it would change mine.

It hasn't been easy and there is still a long road ahead but I see the light at the end of the tunnel and have hope I will be there soon.

The ups and downs have made me stronger, given me new perspective and motivated me to work harder and to stop using excuses.

I bought a ticket to Coach Summit 2017 and will attend.  I have a fire lit inside and will not let my fears push it down.

I am going to help as many people as I can get healthy and fit.  This is my accountability and I will update you all once a week with how I am doing.

NOLA here I come!!!!!!!

10 SUPERFOODS you need to add to your diet Everyday.

I came across this article of different foods we all should be eating everyday and decided to do my research.  I compiled the top 10 I feel we all need to incorporate into our daily diet and will explain why below.  I also am happy to say that you can get 8 of the 10 ingredients in 1 Shake (which I take daily) Shakeology really is a super shake and this will prove it.

10 SUPERFOODS you need to add to your diet EVERYDAY!

Goji Berries
Perhaps one of the tastiest top ten treats, goji berries are known for their healing strength. The nutrients included in these berries are antioxidants and amino acids, but the real strength lies within their more than 20 vitamins and minerals.

Spirulina
Though its taste may be subpar, its high content of everything nutritious makes up for it. Spirulina’s top two ingredients are protein and omega fatty acids.

Flax Seeds
Flax seed is best known for its fatty acids and fiber.  This powder plays its part in proper cardiovascular and immune system health, brain function, joint function, soft skin, and more. The fiber in flax is also good for many things, but especially effective with eliminating toxins from your body.

Acai
These Brazilian berries are loaded with antioxidants that boost your body’s energy and ability to focus. Their protein and fiber will also keep you feeling full making the Acai berry (or powder) a weight fighting superhero.

Chia Seeds
These do-it-all superseeds are good for your head with their high content of omega fatty acids that increase healthy brain function, but have also proven to be good for your heart by fighting high cholesterol and heart disease. They even boast a wide variety of nutrients, such as: protein, fiber, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, iron, calcium and antioxidants.

Avocado
always have avocados on my counter. They are a big part of my diet. I toss them in my shake, make guacamole, smash it on rye toast and constantly eat them by themselves. These green gems contain almost 20 vitamins, minerals and beneficial plant compounds. They are loaded with heart-healthy fats that will keep your skin glowing and your tummy full longer.

Cacao
Cacao is filled with two things that we love: antioxidants and chocolatey flavor! The antioxidants boost your immune system which helps to resist those nasty colds and sickness. The rich, chocolatey flavor is delicious and dessert-like which helps to resist those sugar cravings while still satisfying your sweet tooth.

Hemp Protein
At times it can be difficult to receive the proper amounts of protein and fiber that our bodies need in a healthy way. Hemp protein powder makes it a little easier boasting a whopping 50% protein content and much higher levels of fiber than soy-based protein powder. The hemp content is also kid friendly, as it encourages childhood growth through its amino acids. Athletes can also turn to this superfood for its ability to repair muscles.

Camu Camu
Camu berries come from the Peruvian river regions and are packed with more vitamin C than any orange you’ll ever eat. Vitamin C has been linked with stronger immune systems and protection against viruses helping you fight off those nasty colds, and may even help to keep your skin healthy and vibrant.

Coconut Oil
If you are exercising for weight loss then coconut oil will be an important ingredient for you. The fatty acids in this superfood fight body fat by converting into energy that boosts metabolism as opposed to animal derived saturated fats that add body fat.

Shakeology
  • Proteins and fiber – to help reduce hunger and food cravings.

Venison Roast

My hubby is a hunter and luckily got two deer this season so we have been feasting on the lean red meat.  But I have to admit not a fan of the game taste so this recipe is great cause all the garlic makes that go away.  Oh and you will notice its another crock pot recipe :)

Venison Roast

  • 1-2lb Roast
  • 8-10 garlic cloves
  • 1 white onion
  • 2 cups steak but mushrooms
  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar.
  • 2 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp each of: sage, savoury seasoning, thyme, black pepper and onion powder.

  1. Slice as  many 1/2 inch deep/long slices in your past as  you have garlic cloves and stuff ‘em in.
  2. Rub the last with the dijon and then season accordingly.
  3. slice onions and mushrooms and place at the bottom of your crock pot, place last on top then pour in the balsamic.
  4. Turn on low for 10-12 hours.
  5. When ready to eat, break it apart in the crock pot and put the lid back on to let it simmer in the balsamic for 10-30 mins.

Pineapple BBQ Chicken

As some of you may know I teach Dance in the evenings so I depend on my trusted Crock pot to have delicious meals for my family when i'm gone.

Here is a great one that everyone loves.

First I put 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast in the crock pot.  Then I pour the BBQ sauce over the chicken.  Last I drain a can of pineapple chunks and pour that on top.  Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.

21 Day Fix  BBQ Sauce
  • 6 oz can of tomato paste
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 Tbs balsamic vinegar
  • 2 Tbs molasses
  • 1Tbs raw sugar
  • 2 Tbs worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 liquid smoke
  • a pinch of salt
  • black pepper, to taste

Heat all ingredients together in a small pot over medium heat and bring to a bubble.  Check seasoning and adjust if necessary.  Let bubble, giving it a stir ever minute or two, for about five minutes.

What is liquid smoke?  I know I thought it when I first found this recipe.  It is a yellow to red liquid used for flavouring and its actually easy to find.  It is in most grocery stores and right by the bottled BBQ sauce.

Himalayan Salt

I have been using Himalayan Salt for a year now but have never really known the benefits.  Did some research and wow so glad I switched.

Himalayan crystal salt is far superior to traditional iodized salt. Himalayan salt is millions of years old and pure, untouched by many of the toxins and pollutants that pervade other forms of ocean salt.  So for someone like me who is trying to eat as clean as possible and raise my children in a healthy home Himalayan salt was a no brainer.   No I know NO SALT is the best way but that is just not going to happen right now.  Baby steps lol

Some health benefits of using natural Himalayan Crystal Salt may include:
  • Controlling the water levels within the body, regulating them for proper functioning
  • Promoting stable pH balance in the cells, including the brain.
  • Encouraging excellent blood sugar health
  • Aiding in reducing the common signs of aging
  • Promoting cellular hydroelectric energy creation
  • Promoting the increased absorption capacities of food elements within the intestinal tract
  • Aiding vascular health
  • Supporting healthy respiratory function
  • Lowering incidence of sinus problems, and promoting over-all sinus health
  • Reducing cramps
  • Increasing bone strength
  • Naturally promoting healthy sleep patterns
  • Creating a healthy libido
  • Circulator support
  • Promotes kidney and gall bladder health when compared to common chemically-treated salt
Will you make the switch?

Happy New Year!!!

Well 2016 is here and I am ready to take charge of it.  2015 was a year of learning, Ups, Downs, and successes.
Today I am planing and prepping for the week - breakfast, lunch, dinner and lunches for the kids.  This takes a whole day but is so worth it.  If you fail to plan you plan to fail!  I have learnt that the hard way.

Here is a clean eating grocery list I go by when shopping.  That way I only have good, clean, healthy food available for my family and I.  I like to plan my dinners for the week and buy what is needed but we all know sometimes things come up so having the right food available makes for good choices.

Take this list to the grocery store and start you year off on the right foot.
